In recent years, the use of structured finance products such as securitisation and note repacks have grown in popularity in Hong Kong and serves both as an alternative financial tool and investment product. The Cayman Islands have been a hub for securitisation for many years, and its orphan structures are particularly well-suited to the offshore structured financial transactions.

It will explore the key features of such types of financing, including bankruptcy remoteness, true sale and limited recourse. It will also examine the use of Cayman orphan SPV structures to facilitate such transactions.
