Speaker/Course Instructor

Donald Kurt DAY
Mr Donald Day is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of VDX, a licensed virtual asset trading platform in Hong Kong focused on institutional financial services. VDX serves institutional and intermediary clients, including broker-dealers and banks.

Donald is also a co-founder of the Hong Kong chapter of CFAAR, a not-for-profit organisation that provides education, guidance and thought leadership to legal professionals and the wider market on crypto fraud, digital asset disputes and asset recovery.

Before joining VDX, Donald served as Senior Manager and Subject Matter Expert for Digital Assets at the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong. In that role, he helped shape Hong Kong’s regulatory framework for virtual asset fund managers and virtual asset trading platforms, including relevant regulatory requirements, licensing conditions and supervisory practices. He also led the supervision of virtual asset fund managers and virtual asset trading platforms.

Prior to the SFC, Donald co-founded Bletchley Park Asset Management, where he was Partner and Chief Technology Officer. He helped establish the firm’s trading infrastructure, custody arrangements, treasury operations and international operating setup, including offices in Hong Kong and Jersey. He also led systematic portfolio management and automated arbitrage strategy development.

Earlier in his career, Donald worked across both buy-side and sell-side capital markets roles, including as a Quantitative Strategist and Trader at Deutsche Bank and in business management and technology roles at Segantii. He began his career at Accenture, where he was a Manager in the Capital Markets practice and designed trading and market infrastructure systems for global exchanges across Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Donald holds an MBA in Finance from London Business School and a Master’s degree in Computer Science, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He has also taught courses on FinTech, RegTech and digital asset regulation at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
