Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP) Bridging Programme (3rd Cohort)

Overview

This Bridging Programme aims to bridge the curriculums between CPWP (Module 1 Paper 1 and Module 2) and the Enhanced Competency Framework on Retail Wealth Management (ECF-RWM) by filling the gap in those unmapped syllabi between the mentioned curriculums.

It provides a trimmed version for individuals who completed ECF-RWM Modules 1 to 7 or grandfathered as Certified Retail Wealth Professional to learn about technical and product knowledge as well as ethics and compliance aspect in the context of private wealth management.

CPWP Bridging Post Training Examination will be held on 12 September 2025 (Friday) 4:30pm. Please note that all computer-based exam candidates MUST schedule their exam.  CPWP Bridging Post Training exam candidates should refer to Step 2 of the Scheduling Guide for precedures.  

*Rescheduling services are not applicable to the CPWP Bridging Post Training Exam.

Note: Examination candidates are required to complete Module 1 before 5 September 2025 (Friday), 23:59, otherwise they might not be allowed to sit for the examination on 12 September 2025.

Content

The programme consist of the following parts:

Module 1 – Technical and Product Knowledge (7 hours eCourses offered by Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute)
Topic 1: Basic Products
Topic 2: Derivatives and Structured Products
Topic 3: Investment Funds and Alternative Investments
Topic 4: Portfolio Management
Topic 5: Lending and Leverage

Module 2 – Compliance and Ethics (6 hours classroom/webinar lectures offered by The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB)
Chapter 1: Banking Regulations in Hong Kong
Chapter 2: Securities and Selling Activities related Regulations in Hong Kong
Chapter 3: Laws & Regulations Relating to Client Engagement and What Happens When Things Go Wrong
Chapter 4: Beyond Regulatory Prescriptions - Fiduciary Duties, Ethical Values And Professional Conduct

Module 2 Study Materials are available for download via HKSI Institute Online Portal upon enrolment.

Note: As the CPT hours of Module 2 will be awarded by HKIB, only attendance record of Module 1 can be downloaded from HKSI Institute's Online Portal. 

Who should attend

This programme is primarily for CRWP holders or individuals who have completed all modules of the ECF-RWM programme and are interested in obtaining the CPWP qualification.

By submitting your enrolment to the CPWP Bridging Programme, you authorise the HKSI Institute to share any information provided on your enrolment with HKIB to verify your eligibility and organise training sessions under this programme.

Withdrawal will be arranged for enrolee who DO NOT fulfil any of the above prerequisites. A withdrawal administration fee of HKD500 will be charged.

 

Financial Incentive Scheme of the WAM Pilot Programme

This course has already been approved as an eligible course of the Financial Incentive Scheme for Professional Training (“the Scheme”) under the Pilot Programme to Enhance Talent Training for the Asset and Wealth Management Sector (“the Pilot Programme”). The Scheme aims to enhance the competency and professionalism of in-service practitioners within the asset and wealth management sector and to assist other practitioners within the financial services industry in acquiring the knowledge and skills required for entering the sector. Eligible applicants will be subsidised 80% of the course fees by the HKSAR Government upon satisfactory completion of the courses approved by Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute, subject to a ceiling of HK$15,000. Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute is appointed as the implementation agent of the Pilot Programme. Regarding the details of eligible criteria and application procedures, please refer to the dedicated web-site of the Pilot Programme (https://www.wamtalent.org.hk/).

Participants must attend all the units of each Module 1 and Module 2 training course to sit for the examination within 1 month after the access period. Participants who do not pass the post-training examination must retake and pass the re-examination within 1 month from the date of his/her first examination to qualify for the reimbursement.

[Financial Incentive Scheme] Application Deadline: As the Scheme will conclude on 31 March 2026, the Scheme will cease accepting applications in an orderly manner.  The Scheme will not accept reimbursement applications for courses completed after 31 December 2025, and All reimbursement applications submitted after 31 January 2026 will not be accepted. Applicants are reminded to follow the submission requirements outlined in “Guide to Applicants” to submit the application and upload all the required supporting documents at the online application portal, as well as submit the printed duly-signed application form along with a copy of the Hong Kong Identity Card to the HKSI Institute’s office within four months from the course completion date or by 31 January 2026 (whichever is earlier). For the avoidance of doubt, all applications for courses completed between 1 October 2025 and 31 December 2025 (both dates inclusive) must be submitted by 31 January 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
