Introduction to GRI
Overview
This eSeminar is a recorded session of the “Introduction to GRI” webinar held on 30 August 2024.
This is Module 6 of the Sustainability Excellence for Talent Certification Programme (SET), which aims to provide learners with comprehensive knowledge on topics such as sustainability reporting frameworks, ESG ratings, climate risks, and net zero.
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework has become one of the most widely adopted sustainability reporting frameworks as it allows a consistent and standardised approach to measuring and disclosing sustainability performances, spanning across a wide range of sustainability topics. This seminar provides an overview of the GRI Standards, the steps to identify ESG issues with the application of the double materiality concept, as well as various case studies in applying the GRI Standards and the Sector Standards.

Who should attend
This course is primarily targeted at corporate sustainability officers, compliance officers, risk managers, corporate financial advisors, investor relations officers, accountants and auditors, regulators, and senior management of business entities, including financial institutions.
Speaker/Course Instructor
Andy has extensive experience in assisting clients in diversified industries such as banking, asset management and real estate in sustainability and ESG matters, including ESG reporting preparation in line with global and local standards (e.g. IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, GRI, HKEX ESG Code), responsible investment, climate risk advisory, science-based targets setting, GHG footprinting and ESG rating advisory.
He also has in-depth knowledge of the latest regulatory requirements from active discussions with regulators and insights sharing on market trends and development. He also acts as the technical consultant for the development of Implementation Guidance on HKEX’s New Climate Requirements.
Before commencing her ESG journey, Vivian served as Deputy General Manager of Corporate Affairs and Human Resources at a major listed property developer, overseeing overall ESG, corporate communication, and human capital management functions. Over the past 15 years, Vivian has delivered over 500 hours of professional training on sustainability, ESG reporting, strategy, leadership, and change management to companies from various sectors, including but not limited to real estate, infrastructure, construction, conglomerates, property management, aviation, retail, and the public transport network sector.
Vivian was appointed as a committee member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) International Workshop Agreement on ESG principles. She is also appointed as an advisory panel member of the ECF green and sustainable finance education programs of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers. She is a member of Social Value International, a certified carbon auditor, a BREEAM AP, a BEAM Affiliate, an ActiveScore AP, and a certified Climate Fresk facilitator.
Debbie has supported various clients in preparing their ESG Reports, spanning across banking, real estate and consumer goods industries. As a technical consultant in supporting the HKEX in developing the Implementation Guidance for the New Climate Requirements, she has extensive knowledge of the latest regulatory requirements as well as global reporting standards including the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
