Alternative Investment
Alternative Assets - Part 9 (2023)
Overview
This eCourse consists of two modules on exchange-traded fund (ETF). The products originated as equity funds that tracked the performance of broad market indices, but there are now ETFs that offer exposure to specific sectors and regions as well as other asset classes such as commodities, currencies, and other alternative assets.
Module 1 explores the different types of ETF and the sub-types within each category. It is important to note that this is not an exhaustive list, with new and innovative structures emerging all the time from ETF sponsors.
Module 2 is a video that provides a high level overview of smart beta investing, describing how this form of investing blurs the distinction between active and passive investing. The video also outlines the different types of smart beta products in the market and the variety of alternative indices that they focus on.
