[Webinar] Fostering Hong Kong’s Development as an Asset Management Hub

Overview

Ms Christina Choi, Executive Director of the SFC’s Investment Products Division will discuss recent initiatives to foster Hong Kong’s development as an asset and wealth management hub, including Wealth Management Connect and the Mainland-HK ETF cross-listing and connect schemes. She will also touch on the latest product and market developments including ESG funds and the integration of climate-related factors in asset management.

Who should attend

The webinar is primarily targeted at fund managers, asset managers, in-house counsel & compliance, senior management such as Responsible officers, Managers-in-Charge, directors, CIOs, COOs, CEOs of financial institutions and bankers who would like to have a better understanding of current developments in the asset and wealth management industry.

Financial Incentive Scheme of the WAM Pilot Programme

This is one of the eligible courses / seminars under the Financial Incentive Scheme (“The Scheme”) of the WAM Pilot Programme.

Eligible in-service practitioners of the financial services industry could apply for a reimbursement up to 80% of the course / seminar fees, or a maximum of HK$10,000 per person throughout the period of 1 October 2016 to 31 March 2023 upon satisfactory completion.

Each individual may apply for reimbursement for more than one course / seminar subject to a maximum of HK$10,000 but each course / seminar can only be reimbursed once.

The duly signed application form together with the FIVE supporting documents must be submitted within FOUR months from the last day of the course / seminar attended. Please refer to the WAM Pilot Programme website for more details.

Speaker/Course Instructor

Christina CHOI
Ms Choi is a member of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). She is also an Executive Director with responsibility for the Investment Products Division, which is responsible for authorising and supervising collective investment schemes and other investment products as well as for the development and implementation of the SFC’s asset management strategy and policies.

Ms Choi joined the SFC in 2005. She has extensive regulatory knowledge and experience in the policies and requirements for investment products both in Hong Kong and internationally. She played a lead role in the design and launch of various mutual recognition of funds (MRF) arrangements between Hong Kong and other jurisdictions, in particular the ground-breaking MRF arrangements with Mainland China.

Prior to joining the SFC, Ms Choi practised as a solicitor in Hong Kong and was a partner of the Corporate Group of the international law firm, Clifford Chance.

Ms Choi is currently Chair of the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ Committee on Investment Management. She is also a member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s Financial Services Advisory Committee and the Asian Financial Forum Steering Committee.

Ms Choi chairs the SFC’s Products Advisory Committee and Committee on Real Estate Investment Trusts. She also sits on the Advisory Committee, the SFC (HKEC Listing) Committee and the Executive Committee.
