The webinar aims to shed light on the insights and wisdom of a veteran regulator who has straddled the MPF and securities & futures regulatory regimes for over two decades.

Ms Alice Law, who will be leaving her position as the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) upon the completion of her contract at the end of June, will share with the audience her insightful observations of the intricate dynamics and relationship between regulators and regulatees from her 20 plus years’ experience as a senior executive in both the MPFA and Securities and Futures Commission. She will also dissect the major challenges and opportunities for regulators under the digital era. 

In the webinar, which will take the form of a fireside chat between Alice and a moderator, apart from sharing her professional career life, Alice will also be solicited to unveil her personal and soft sides, including her thoughts on the key attributes of the new form of leadership that are responsive to today’s market landscape, how she manages stress, how she maintains work and life balance, to name but a few.

The fireside chat will be moderated by Mr Colin Shaftesley, Board Director of HKSI Institute and Partner of PwC.

Alice LAW
Ms Alice Law is the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA). Ms Law is a Senior Fellow of the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute, Member of Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group, Member of Council of Advisors for Applied Research of the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary and Financial Research of the Academy of Finance, Co-chair of Global Future Council on Responsive Financial Systems of World Economic Forum and MPFA's official representative to the International Organisation of Pension Supervisors (IOPS) Executive Committee and Technical Committee.

She was Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of MPFA from 2012-18. She held Director to Senior Director positions at Securities and Futures Commission with last position as Senior Director (Policy, China & Investment Products). She was a partner in a Hong Kong law firm before joining the public sector in 1998.
