Virtual Assets Training
In recent years, virtual assets (VAs) have gained significant prominence, with a remarkable surge in trading volume and proliferating “newcomers” from traditional finance. However, it is crucial not to underestimate the associated risks. As emerging products, VAs differ from traditional investment and carry unique risks that must be carefully considered.
The VA Licensing Regime for the VA trading platform (VATP) has been established on 1 June 2023 under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (AMLO) and the Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO). The SFC has sequentially published several guidelines and circulars regarding VA-related activities (i.e. VATP, VA fund managers, distributing VA products, VA dealing or advisory) for ensuring investor protection while maintaining market integrity.
