This is Unit 22 of the "Trust Training Certificate ("TTC") (version 2.0) training programme".

This eCourse is prepared based on the recorded version of the webinar session held on 25 October 2024. Please note that the examination is based on the study guide and slide deck, which can be downloaded from the eCourse. For participants who plan to take the TTC Part B Stream 2 Examination at a later date, you should ensure you read the study guide and materials provided via the examination enrolment link.

Objective

On completion of this eCourse, you will be able to:
- Understand the basic requirement of ORSO schemes;
- Explain the different types of ORSO schemes;
- Describe the obligations and responsibilities of employers and trustee under ORSO schemes;
- Describe the administrative and reporting requirements of ORSO schemes; and
- Explain the tax position of ORSO scheme and contributions and benefits.

Content

This Module provides an overview of Occupational Retirement Schemes, which is established under a trust structure by virtue of Occupational Retirement Schemes Ordinance (“ORSO”).

This course is primarily designed for individuals who are interested in obtaining the "Trust Training Certificate" to qualify for the Hong Kong Trustees' Association Certified Trust Practitioner™ designation.

It is also relevant for individuals seeking a comprehensive understanding of the course subject matter and those planning to enter the Trust industry sector.

Penny LEUNG
Penny is a pension and funds veteran with over 20 years of experience. In her previous role as Director for Global Trustee and Fiduciary Services at HSBC, she was responsible for establishing and expanding trustee services to pension and investment funds. She managed a wide portfolio of retirement schemes including statutory organisations, educational institutions, multinationals and Hong Kong-listed companies. She is a key industry contributor to setting best practice standards in pension governance in the region. Penny is a Certified Trust Practitioner in Hong Kong. She holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Economics) from the University of Hong Kong, a Retirement Provision Certificate issued by the Pension Management Institute (UK), and a Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law from the University of London.
