Hong Kong, 12 December 2019:  The Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute) today announced the reappointment of Ms Katherine Ng as the Chairman of its Board for another one-year term.

At its 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) today, the HKSI Institute also saw the re-election of Mr David Chau, Mr Christopher Lee and Mr Samuel Tsang as Board Directors for a three-year term.  All resolutions set out in the AGM Notice were duly approved by Members.

Ms Katherine Ng has served on the HKSI Institute Board since December 2014 and the coming year would mark her second term as Chairman.  She is the Head of Policy at the Listing Department of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX).  Prior to joining HKEX in 2013, Ms Ng had served as Political Assistant to the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Hong Kong Government; worked in an international investment bank; and was a private practice lawyer with an international law firm in Hong Kong and London.  Currently, Ms Ng is a Director of the World Wide Fund for Nature Hong Kong, an Advisor to Our Hong Kong Foundation and a fellow of the Aspen Institute.

“I am pleased to continue to serve as Chairman, and to be entrusted with the responsibility to lead the Institute. We had a busy and amazing year – rolling out the revamped and improved computer-based examination system, bolstering our professional development offerings and organising more member events,” said Ms Katherine Ng.  “We are grateful to be supported by our members and partners in driving our mission of reinforcing, raising and promoting standards of the Hong Kong’s financial services industry. The Board and I look forward to continuing the growth story of the HKSI Institute,” she added.

This year’s AGM also marked the adoption of electronic platform for Board nomination and AGM voting, as an additional means for members to nominate their preferred candidates and vote on the resolutions. “It is important for the HKSI members to enjoy the convenience of modern technology, and we expect this transition to electronic communication will encourage higher engagement and participations from all our members,” said Ms Ng.

The Appendix below sets out the HKSI Institute Board of Directors for the new term. It comprises fifteen directors of whom three directors are appointed by the SFC, and twelve directors are elected by its Members. The Board of Directors comprises members from different business sectors across the financial services-related industry, including from the academia, corporate finance, fund management, futures, investment analysis, and securities sectors.
