HKSI Institute Welcomes the Appointment of Chairman and Board of Directors
Hong Kong, 11 December 2015 – The Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute) is pleased to announce the election of Mr John Maguire as Chairman, and the appointment of its Board of Directors for the 2016 term.
Mr Maguire, Head of Corporate Finance of REORIENT Financial Markets Limited, is a Senior Fellow of the HKSI Institute and holds various key positions in the Institute’s standing-committees. He is the Deputy Chairman of the Takeovers and Mergers Panel, Member of the Takeovers Appeal Committee, and Member of the Committee on Real Estate Investment Trusts of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), and is also a Member of the Listing Committee of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. Mr Maguire succeeds Mr Craig Lindsay, who has chaired the HKSI Institute for the past three years.
“Mr Maguire brings with him extensive expertise from the securities and investment industry, as well as the broader financial services market, and I am confident that the Institute will continue to thrive under his leadership in serving our Members and the learning community,” said Mr Craig Lindsay.
“I am honoured to be elected as the Chairman. These past years I have witnessed many exciting, market-defining initiatives by the HKSI Institute, and am looking forward to working even closer with the Board, the HKSI Institute team as well as various stakeholders in advancing our professional development offerings,” Mr Maguire said.
At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held yesterday, Members elected Mr Benson Lo and Mr Philip Tye as Board of Directors, and Professor Michael Firth and Mr Trini Tsang were re-elected. Directors appointed by the SFC are Ms Katherine Ng, Mr Colin Shaftesley and Mr Derek Shek, and they will hold office until the next AGM. Meanwhile, eight existing directors continue to hold office until the completion of their terms. Please refer to Appendix for the list of HKSI Institute Board of Directors 2016.
