HKSI Institute Announces New Chairman and Board of Directors for the New Term
Hong Kong, 9 December: The Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute) is pleased to announce the election of Mr Colin Shaftesley, Partner of Financial Services Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers Hong Kong as Chairman, and the appointment of its Board of Directors for the new term.
Mr Colin Shaftesley succeeds Ms Katherine Ng, who has chaired the HKSI Institute for the past three years. Mr Shaftesley is a Senior Fellow of the HKSI Institute and has served on its Board for the last 12 years, the last six as a Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) appointee. Mr Shaftesley has more than 30 years’ experience in audits, risk and control reviews, due diligence, fraud investigations and regulatory breaches or queries. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
“Colin brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Institute, and his leadership will help drive the Institute’s strategic priorities in enriching professional development of the financial services industry and expand our footprint beyond Hong Kong,” said Ms Ng.
“I am honoured to be given the mandate to lead the Institute. I look forward to continuing my involvement with the Institute and working actively with my fellow Board Directors and stakeholders in embracing new challenges and opportunities,” said Mr Shaftesley.
At the HKSI Institute’s 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today, Members elected Mr Colin Shaftesley, Mr Vincent Chan, Mr Robert Lui, Mr Barry Tong and Mr Wang Zhongze as Board Directors, and Ms Phyllis Lee was re-elected. Mr Shaftesley was elected as Chairman at the Board Meeting held in September 2021 subject to the election results at the AGM.
The Institute also welcomes the SFC’s reappointment of Ms Katherine Ng and Mr Eric Ho, Director of Licensing, Intermediaries of the SFC to the Board, and the new appointment of Mr Jeremy Lam, Partner and Head of Financial Services Practice of Deacons. The Appendix below sets out HKSI Institute’s Board of Directors for the new term – 15 directors, of whom 12 directors are elected by its Members and 3 directors appointed by the SFC. The Board of Directors comprises Members from different business sectors across the financial services-related industry, including from the academia, corporate finance, fund management, futures, investment analysis, and securities sectors.
