The HKSI Institute congratulates its Honorary Fellow, Mr Carlson Tong, on his appointment as the Chairman of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) on 24 April 2024.  Mr Tong succeeds Mrs Laura Cha who has retired from the HKEX Board following the conclusion of HKEX’s 2024 annual general meeting.

Mr Carlson Tong has played a significant role in advancing the HKSI Institute’s mission in raising professional standards within the financial services industry since his Chairmanship at the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) from 2012 to 2018.

“Carlson’s exceptional leadership and expertise will undoubtedly bring about valuable contributions to the ongoing success of HKEX and we look forward to the continuing close collaboration and partnership with Carlson in his new role.  Additionally, we extend our heartfelt acknowledgement to Laura, who is also an Honorary Fellow of the HKSI Institute, for her positive influence on Hong Kong’s dynamic capital markets during her Chairmanship at HKEX,” said Mr Colin Shaftesley, Chairperson of the HKSI Institute.
