Fintech - Part 8
Overview
Computer scientists have been attempting to create intelligent machines for decades, leading to the development of ever-more sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) systems. But the launch of ChatGPT in 2022 represented a major leap forward as it demonstrated publicly AI’s ability to engage in human-like dialogue and its potential to be used to perform tasks across many domains, unlike earlier task-specific AI systems. Since then, countless other generative AI (GenAI) tools have emerged and interest in the area has surged, as have concerns around moral and ethical issues, as AI technologies continue to evolve and develop.
This eCourse provides a detailed overview of AI and how it has evolved over time. It describes the different types of AI in detail and defines the core concepts and technologies that are critical to understanding the field of artificial intelligence today.
Objective
On completion of this eCourse, you will be able to:
- Define AI and how it has evolved from rules-based traditional AI systems to today’s generative AI systems
- Recognize the wide spectrum of “intelligence” often associated with AI, from simple automation and robotic process automation (RPA) to narrow forms of AI (ANI), artificial general intelligence (AGI), and artificial superintelligence (ASI)
- Identify the core concepts and technologies associated with AI today, including machine learning, deep learning and neural networks, transformer models, natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), and computer vision.
