[Webinar] Shaping the Virtual Asset Ecosystem: Compliance, Competence and the Road Ahead

Join us for a fireside chat with Ms Elizabeth Wong, Director of Licensing and Head of the Fintech Unit at the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission. This session will provide a comprehensive overview of the regulatory regime governing VA-related activities in Hong Kong. Ms Wong will share insights on regulatory expectations and recent regulatory updates. Additionally, the session will cover the expected competencies for VA practitioners, addressing the key elements crucial to shaping the rapidly evolving virtual asset ecosystem.

Financial Incentive Scheme of the WAM Pilot Programme

This course has already been approved as an eligible course of the Financial Incentive Scheme for Professional Training (“the Scheme”) under the Pilot Programme to Enhance Talent Training for the Asset and Wealth Management Sector (“the Pilot Programme”). The Scheme aims to enhance the competency and professionalism of in-service practitioners within the asset and wealth management sector and to assist other practitioners within the financial services industry in acquiring the knowledge and skills required for entering the sector. Eligible applicants will be subsidised 80% of the course fees by the HKSAR Government upon satisfactory completion of the courses approved by Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute, subject to a ceiling of HK$15,000. Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute is appointed as the implementation agent of the Pilot Programme. Elizabeth WONG
Ms Elizabeth Wong is a Director of Licensing and Head of Fintech Unit, Intermediaries at Securities and Futures Commission. Her work involves the formulation of the Commission's policy on fintech matters and leading and supervising the licensing application approval process for virtual asset trading platforms, robo-advisers, virtual asset fund managers and traditional securities and asset management firms. Prior to taking up this role, Ms Wong worked in the Investment Products Division and the Intermediaries Supervision Department and played a key role in Commission-wide policy initiatives including developing and enhancing Hong Kong as an international asset management centre and introducing guidelines for regulating the sale of investment products through online distribution and advisory platforms.
