[In-person] Asset Management Industry: The Year 2023 and Beyond

Overview

Asia-Pacific is the region with the strongest growth in asset pool in recent years and Asset Management (AM) is a growing sector in the financial services industry. Market participants find Hong Kong an ideal platform to capture the enormous opportunities arising from favourable macro trends. To enable AM practitioners broaden their understanding and enlarge their service scope to meet the market needs, it is important that they have a good understanding of the local and international market development as well as the industry trend.

Through analytic review of the 2023 industry performance, facilitated discussion of selected case studies and sharing views of the industry trends, the participants will be able to plan ahead and address the potential challenges in 2024.

This course is primary target to experienced AM industry practitioners.

Financial Incentive Scheme of the WAM Pilot Programme

This course has already been approved as an eligible course of the Financial Incentive Scheme for Professional Training (“the Scheme”) under the Pilot Programme to Enhance Talent Training for the Asset and Wealth Management Sector (“the Pilot Programme”). The Scheme aims to enhance the competency and professionalism of in-service practitioners within the asset and wealth management sector and to assist other practitioners within the financial services industry in acquiring the knowledge and skills required for entering the sector. Eligible applicants will be subsidised 80% of the course fees by the HKSAR Government upon satisfactory completion of the courses approved by Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute, subject to a ceiling of HK$15,000. Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute is appointed as the implementation agent of the Pilot Programme. Speaker/Course Instructor

Daniel JIM
Mr Jim started his career in Europe and was instrumental in supporting major European institutions' first investments into Chinese equities. He subsequently founded one of the first home-grown independent investment management firms in Greater China, focusing on alternative investment strategies.

Over the years, Mr Jim has established himself as one of Asia's pioneers in global hedge fund investments, conducted due diligence on more than 5,000 and allocated to over 100 funds. Mr Jim has been lecturing at the Institute for 20 years on topics ranging from hedge fund to asset management and is currently also a Part-time Lecturer at the Hong Kong Metropolitan University.

Daniel earned his Bachelor and Master degrees at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and SDA Bocconi in Milan, respectively, upon graduating from St. Joseph’s College in Hong Kong.
