[In-person] Hong Kong's Virtual Asset Licensing Regime – The Next Steps...

Overview

To prepare for the commencement of the AMLO Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) regime on 1 June 2023, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has launched a public consultation on 20 February 2023 regarding the proposed regulatory requirements, including internal control and operational requirements for virtual asset trading platform operators licensed by the SFC.

We will co-organise this seminar with Private Wealth Management Association (PWMA) to enable market practitioners and interested parties to better understand the new licensing regime. Our Board Director, Miss Angelina Kwan, will have a dialogue with Ms Elizabeth Wong, Director of Licensing and Head of Fintech Unit, Intermediaries at SFC, to explain the proposed regulatory requirements in detail.

Who should attend

The joint seminar primarily targets at all licenced individuals, senior executives and MICs of licenced corporations, virtual asset service providers, professional services firms and the practitioners who are in the private wealth management or banking sector.

Elizabeth WONG
Ms Elizabeth Wong is a Director of Licensing and Head of Fintech Unit, Intermediaries at Securities and Futures Commission. Her work involves the formulation of the Commission's policy on fintech matters and leading and supervising the licensing application approval process for virtual asset trading platforms, robo-advisers, virtual asset fund managers and traditional securities and asset management firms. Prior to taking up this role, Ms Wong worked in the Investment Products Division and the Intermediaries Supervision Department and played a key role in Commission-wide policy initiatives including developing and enhancing Hong Kong as an international asset management centre and introducing guidelines for regulating the sale of investment products through online distribution and advisory platforms.
