Building on Hong Kong’s strengths as a global financial centre, the Hong Kong SAR Government and regulators are committed to drive and help shaping Hong Kong’s green and sustainable policies and programmes to ensure that Hong Kong remains a leader in Asia and globally.

Environmental, social and governance issues are now a major factor in investment and the global pandemic of Covid19 has shifted the investment lenses towards sustainable finance and ESG investments.

Hear from a diverse panel of experts from corporate and finance background, on their insights regarding upcoming trends, and learn about actionable initiatives from their experiences.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Helene Li, General Manager of FinTech Association of Hong Kong. The panellists will share their views from their perspectives and discuss on the following:

- how the sustainable finance has shaped the business in Hong Kong?
- how the financial institutions meet the increasing client demand for ESG investments by enhancing the product offerings?
- what the corporates are doing in terms of sustainable development as well as issuance of green bonds?
- what roles the government policies and regulatory environment have played to drive this forward?
- what would be the major trend that will take off in the “new normal” post Covid?

Speaker/Course Instructor

Mario KNOEPFEL
Mario is an investment specialist, heading Sustainable Investing Advisory for Asia-Pacific since 2015. In his role, Mario advises private wealth clients and family offices on sustainability aspects, helping them to incorporate personal values in investment portfolios across asset classes, investing with social and environmental impact through innovative public and private markets solutions and driving education and awareness efforts in the region. He leads UBS's efforts to mainstreaming sustainable investing among private investors in Asia.

Working for UBS Wealth Management since 2001, Mario moved to Hong Kong in early 2013 to establish the Hong Kong presence of the UBS Optimus Foundation, a professional grant-making foundation that helps UBS clients in funding and managing projects benefitting underprivileged children around the world.

Prior, he worked for UBS Wealth Management in different positions in Zurich and Moscow with a strong focus on advising the bank's ultra-high-net-worth clients and developing this client segment strategically.

Mario is a member of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's working group on Green and Sustainable Banking. Mario holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration with a Major in Banking and Finance from Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland.
Ellie TANG
Ellie Tang is currently Head of Sustainability at New World Development Company Limited and General Manager – Sustainability at K11 Concepts Limited, where she formulated and drives the “New World Sustainability Vision 2030” across the Group’s businesses in Hong Kong and mainland China, supports environmental, social and governance (ESG) risk management and disclosure, leads green financing initiatives, and standardises sustainable building practices. She is also an appointed member of the Environmental Campaign Committee of the HKSAR Government.

Ellie’s experience covers sustainability strategy and planning, environmental management, ESG reporting, carbon credit project development, sustainable finance, and investor engagement. She was previously the Asia Pacific Coordinator of the “HSBC Water Programme” – a global USD100m partnership with governments and NGOs to improve access to fresh water and sanitation, relevant policy support, and community livelihoods.

Ellie holds a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University, U.S. A holistic sustainability practitioner, Ellie is also a certified health coach and a WELL Building StandardR Accredited Professional.
Rocky TUNG
Rocky Tung is the Head of Policy Research for the Financial Services Development Council. He leads the team responsible for conducting policy research and industry surveys for the formulation of proposals to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and financial regulators.

Rocky holds a doctoral degree in organisational leadership from the Northeastern University in Boston. He received a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree, both in Economics, from the University of Hong Kong and the University of Wisconsin – Madison, respectively.
