Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP) Module 1 Refresher Programme Topic 4 – Foreign Exchange
Overview
The Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) for Private Wealth Management (PWM) Practitioners, which was rolled out in June 2014, sets out an enhanced level of core competence and on-going professional development of PWM practitioners who undertake customer-facing roles. To qualify as a Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP), PWM practitioner is required to pass the CPWP Modules 1 & 2 Examinations.
HKSI Institute offers the CPWP Module 1 Refresher Programme which is designed to help candidates of the CPWP Module 1 Examinations build a strong knowledge base and practical skills on the topics to be examined by learning or refreshing the content covered in the Study Manuals. It has 14 training sessions and T4 Foreign Exchange is one of the training sessions.
Content
Each training session is highly interactive and practical examples and exercises will be provided. The content of the training session is based on the CPWP Module 1 syllabus (please refer to CPWP Module 1 Syllabus for details) and the CPWP Module 1 Study Manuals.
The high level outline of T4 Foreign Exchange is
1. CPWP Module 1 Refresher Programme Overview and its key learning objectives
2. Topic overview including the key focus of the training session and the learning outcomes as stated in the study manual
3. Key content includes
-- Exchange Rate Systems
-- Foreign Exchange Market
-- Spot Foreign Exchange Quotation
-- Forward Foreign Exchange
-- Short Term & Long Term Drivers of Exchange Rates
Who should attend
This course is relevant to CPWP candidates who wish to take the CPWP Module 1 Paper 1 Examination and those PWM practitioners who would like to enhance their knowledge and skills in wealth management products.
Financial Incentive Scheme of the WAM Pilot Programme
This is one of the eligible courses / seminars / conferences under the Financial Incentive Scheme (“The Scheme”) of the WAM Pilot Programme.
Eligible in-service practitioners of the financial services industry could apply for reimbursement of 80% of the course fees, subject to a maximum of HK$7,000 (whichever is lower) upon satisfactory completion of a course / seminar / conference over the three-year period of the Scheme.
Each individual may apply for reimbursement for more than one course / seminar / conference.
Application to reimburse the course fees, together with the required documents, must be submitted within four months from the last day of the course / seminar / conference attended. Please refer to the WAM Pilot Programme website for more details.
Speaker/Course Instructor
Following 8 years in the UK, he moved to Asia in 1991, working for a large international investment bank and later became the Head of Investment Advisory Group of their Private Bank in Hong Kong. Most recently, he was the Head of Investment Services, Advisory and Discretionary for two boutique Swiss private banks.
Mr. James obtained an Honors business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo Canada, and an MBA from the University of Toronto, Toronto Canada.
