HKSI Institute Celebrates Induction of Ms Lau Ka Shi as Honorary Fellow

Hong Kong, 23 November 2023: The Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute) proudly presents its esteemed Honorary Fellowship to Ms Lau Ka Shi, Senior Advisor of BCT Group (after having successfully led the Group as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a remarkable 23 years), at its signature Autumn Dinner on 21 November 2023.  Additionally, three HKSI Institute Members, Ms Marcella Chan, Mr Mark Lin and Mr Bernard Wu were inducted as Senior Fellows in recognition of their active involvement and contributions to the professional community.

The prestigious accolade of Honorary Fellowship acknowledges Ms Lau’s visionary leadership and remarkable contributions to the financial services industry, particularly within the fiduciary and trust sector in Hong Kong.  It also recognises her distinguished contributions and support to the initiatives of the HKSI Institute through her active committee role on its Education & Development Committee.

“Ka Shi’s unwavering dedication, insightful perspectives, and expertise have been instrumental in propelling our professional development initiatives forward,” said Mr Colin Shaftesley, Chairman of the HKSI Institute.  “She has been the driving force in our collaboration with the Hong Kong Trustees’ Association to introduce the Trust Training Certificate, setting a new benchmark for professional excellence within the industry.  Also, Ka Shi generously contributes her time as a captivating speaker and skilled moderator, greatly enriching our programmes and fostering meaningful discussions in our professional network,” Mr Shaftesley added.

“I am deeply honoured to be recognised as an Honorary Fellow, joining the esteemed ranks of those who have come before me.  I am dedicated to building retirement protection solutions for Hong Kong's working population, and I will continue to make a positive impact in this area as well as in the social capital arena through driving governance, sustainability, and community engagement,” said Ms Lau Ka Shi.  

Apart from being the Chairman of Hong Kong Trustees’ Association, Vice Chairman of Asian Corporate Governance Association and a Member of Academy of Finance, Ms Lau also serves on other statutory and professional bodies, including the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority, Securities and Futures Commission, Hong Kong Retirement Schemes Association, Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Our Hong Kong Foundation.

Three HKSI Institute Members were also inducted as Senior Fellows in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the HKSI Institute.  They are: 

  • Ms Marcella Chan, Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance & ECM Transaction Management, Nomura, Asia ex-Japan
  • Mr Mark Lin, Partner, Hogan Lovells
  • Mr Bernard Wu, Deputy Chairman, Poseidon Hill Capital Limited

Regarding the newly inducted Senior Fellows, Mr Shaftesley expressed his utmost appreciation, stating, “We are privileged to have Senior Fellows who go above and beyond in advancing our professional community.  Their valuable contributions have spoken volumes, whether it be through the development of our qualification study materials, their service as moderators for our professional development programmes, or their mentoring of aspiring financial professionals.  Their dedication and commitment to excellence are truly inspiring.”
