HKSI Institute Announces Newly-Appointed Board of Directors and Re-Election of Mr John Maguire as Chairman
Hong Kong, 8 December 2016 – The Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute) today announced the election results of its 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 8 December 2016. The HKSI Institute is also pleased to announce that Mr John Maguire has been re-elected as HKSI Institute Chairman for another one year term.
Mr John Maguire is Head of Investment Banking and Senior Managing Director of Yunfeng Financial Group. He is Deputy Chairman of the Takeovers and Mergers Panel, a Member of the Takeovers Appeal Committee and a Member of the Securities and Futures Commission’s Committee on Real Estate Investment Trusts. In addition, he is a Member of the Listing Committee of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, and a Member of the Executive Committee of the Asian Securities and Investment Federation.

I am humbled that the responsibility of leading the Institute forward has been entrusted to me. It is my joy and privilege to work with fellow dedicated Members in championing professional standards of excellence for the industry. It is through everyone’s concerted effort that the Institute will continue to grow and create value for our Members and the financial services industry as a whole,” said Mr Maguire.
The HKSI Institute Board of Directors comprises fifteen directors of whom up to three directors are appointed by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) – with non-SFC appointees elected by its Members. The Board of Directors comprises Members from different business sectors including academia, corporate finance, fund management, futures, investment analysis, and securities.
At the 2016 AGM, the following Directors were elected:

- Mr Christopher Lee
- Mr Samuel Tsang
- Ms Barbara Wang
The HKSI Institute is also pleased to announce the SFC’s reappointment of Ms Katherine Ng, Senior Vice President and Head of Policy Listing Department of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, and Mr Colin Shaftesley, Partner, Financial Services Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hong Kong. The HKSI Institute welcomes the new appointment of Ms Clara Chiu, Director of Licensing of the SFC to the Board.
