HKSI Institute Welcomes HKSAR’s First Five-Year Plan and Policy Address 2026
Hong Kong, 16 September 2026: The Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute) welcomes the Chief Executive's First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (2026-2030) and Policy Address 2026, which set out a strategic roadmap for strengthening Hong Kong's position as an international financial centre.
The HKSI Institute supports the Government’s measures to reinforce Hong Kong's roles as a global offshore renminbi (RMB) business hub, a world-leading cross-boundary wealth management centre and an international risk management centre, while enhancing capital market competitiveness and connectivity, advancing technological innovation, and supporting the development of the real economy.
Mr Kevin Liem, Board Chairperson of the HKSI Institute, said, “The Five-Year Plan provides a clear and forward-looking blueprint for strengthening Hong Kong's position as a leading international financial centre. Its emphasis on financial market development, innovation and regional integration lays a strong foundation for Hong Kong's long-term growth. Realising these ambitions will require not only strong markets and institutions, but also a highly skilled and trusted financial services profession. Maintaining high professional standards and enhancing competence across the industry will be critical to sustaining Hong Kong's global competitiveness. The HKSI Institute stands ready to work with the Government, regulators and industry stakeholders in advancing these priorities. We also look forward to deepening engagement across the Greater Bay Area, Belt and Road markets and The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), promoting knowledge exchange and high professional standards across the industry.”
Miss Ruth Kung, Chief Executive of the HKSI Institute, said, "The strong emphasis on talent development, financial services excellence, innovation and technology, and deeper integration with the Greater Bay Area aligns closely with HKSI Institute's mission of advancing professional standards and developing financial talent. As the professional body serving Hong Kong's financial services industry, we are committed to supporting these strategic priorities through qualifications, licensing examinations, professional education and lifelong learning programmes that equip practitioners with the knowledge, skills and ethical standards needed to enhance Hong Kong's long-term competitiveness and resilience.”
