Examination Services

Examination Mode

Our examinations are either computer-based or paper-based. 

Computer-Based Examination (CBE)

Most of the examinations conducted by HKSI Institute are CBEs.  Candidates will receive their results immediately after completion.  The examination system is in English unless otherwise specified.  To familiarise yourself with the examination system, click here. 

Applicable examinations:

• Licensing Examination for Securities and Futures Intermediaries (LE), except those conducted in Macao
• Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP) Module 1 Examination Paper 1
• CPWP Bridging Programme Post-training Examination
• Post-training Examination for the Core Curriculum of the Certification Programme for Virtual Asset Professionals (CVAP examination)
• Hong Kong Gold Exchange Qualification Examination (GXQE)
• Trust Training Certificate Examination (TTC)

Paper-Based Examination (PBE)

PBE is available only for certain examinations or under specific circumstances, such as an examination system outage.  Examination results will be posted on the online portal within a specified period following the examination.

• CPWP Module 1 Examination Paper 2

  The global examination centres are available in over 70 countries across 460+ centres, all operated by Prometric.

  You can choose an examination centre that is close to you.

• Examination Sessions with Special Arrangements

  Additional locations managed by our partners:

  • Mainland China - Conducted and enrolled through the Securities Association of China
  • Taiwan - Conducted and enrolled through the Securities and Futures Institute
  • Macao - Conducted at the Macau Institute of Financial Services (address)

Remote Live-Proctored Examination

Remote live-proctored examination allows you to take examinations online from any location, whether at home or in a meeting room, using your own computer. A live invigilator will monitor the examination online throughout the session.

Operating hours:

• English-speaking proctors: Available daily
• Cantonese / Putonghua-speaking proctors: Available every Monday and Friday, during Hong Kong office hours (9:00am – 4:00pm, Hong Kong Time, UTC+8).

Examination Session Scheduling and Rescheduling 

CBE candidates can schedule their examination sessions for applicable examinations after enrolment.  To allow flexibility, CBE candidates are allowed to reschedule the examination session where required provided they adhere to the rescheduling policy (please click here).  

Applicable Examinations:

• LE, except for the following:
  • Paper 4 and Paper 10 conducted at Hong Kong Examination Centre,
  • Examinations enrolled via the Securities Association of China (SAC),
  • Examinations enrolled via the Taiwan Securities and Futures Institute (SFI), and
  • Examinations conducted at the Macau Institute of Financial Services (MIFS).
• CPWP Module 1 Examination Paper 1
• CVAP Examination

Examination Withdrawal 

Candidates can withdraw from the enrolled examinations, if applicable, online due to unforeseen circumstances or personal reasons.  Please click here for the withdrawal policy.
