Examination Services

Examination Mode

Our examinations are either computer-based or paper-based. 

Computer-Based Examination (CBE)

Most of the examinations conducted by HKSI Institute are CBE.  Candidates will receive their results immediately after completion.  The examination system is in English unless otherwise specified.  To familiarise yourself with the examination system, please click here. 

Applicable examinations:

  • Licensing Examination for Securities and Futures Intermediaries (LE), except conducted in Macao
  • Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP) Module 1 Examination Paper 1
  • CPWP Bridging Programme Post-training Examination
  • Post-training Examination for the Core Curriculum of the Certification Programme for Virtual Asset Professionals (CVAP)
  • The Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange Society Qualification Examination (GSQE)
  • Trust Training Certificate Examination (TTC)

Paper-Based Examination (PBE)

PBE is available only for certain examinations or under specific circumstances, such as an examination system outage.  Examination results will be posted on the online portal within a specified period following the examination.

Applicable examinations:

  • LE in Macao
  • Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA®) Final Examination
  • CPWP Module 1 Examination Paper 2
  • MPF Intermediaries Examination
  • PRC Securities Regulations Examination

 

Examination Locations

We offer in-person and remote live proctored examination options for your selection to suit your needs.

In-Person Examination 

  1. Hong Kong Examination Centre (address)

    Operating hours: Monday to Friday during Hong Kong office hours.  Click here for the examination schedule.

    Available examinations: all examinations administered by HKSI Institute

  2. Global Examination Centres

    The global examination centres are operated by Prometric.

    Available locations: currently only available in the following countries:

    - Australia
    - France
    - Japan
    - Singapore
    - South Korea
    - United Kingdom
    - United States

    You can choose the examination centre that is close to you (List of Centres).

    Operating hours: centre’s office hours on workdays during the first seven days of each month.

    Available examinations: currently LE papers only

  3. Specific arrangement for LE in Mainland China, Taiwan and Macao

    Mainland China - Enrolment through the Securities Association of China

    Taiwan - Enrolment through the Securities and Futures Institute

    Macao - Conducted at the Macau Institute of Financial Services (address) 

Remote Live-Proctored Examination

Remote live-proctored examination allows you to take examinations online from any location, whether at home or in a meeting room, using your own computer.  A live invigilator will be present online throughout the examination.

Operating hours: available every Monday and Friday during HKSI Institute office hours (i.e. 9:00am – 4:00pm, Hong Kong Time UTC+8).

Available examinations: currently LE papers only

Special Requirements: there are specific requirements on computer, devices, room set up and check in.  You must understand the details and ensure you can meet the requirements before enrolling in the remote examination. Click here for details.

Examination Session Scheduling and Rescheduling 

CBE candidates can schedule their examination sessions for applicable examinations after enrolment.  To allow flexibility, CBE candidates are allowed to reschedule the examination session where required provided they adhere to the rescheduling policy (please click here).  

Applicable Examinations:

  • Licensing Examination for Securities and Futures Intermediaries (LE), except for the following:
    • Paper 4 and Paper 10 conducted in Hong Kong,
    • Examinations enrolled via the Securities Association of China (SAC),
    • Examinations enrolled via the Taiwan Securities and Futures Institute (SFI), and
    • Examinations conducted at the Macau Institute of Financial Services (MIFS).
  • Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP) Module 1 Examination Paper 1
  • Post-training Examination for the Core Curriculum of the Certification Programme for Virtual Asset Professionals (CVAP)

 

Examination Withdrawal 

Candidate can withdraw from the enrolled examinations, if applicable, online due to unforeseen circumstances or personal reasons.  Please click here for the withdrawal policy.

    • examinations enrolled via the Securities Association of China (SAC),
    • examinations enrolled via the Taiwan Securities and Futures Institute (SFI)
