Overview

This eCourse consists of two modules. Module 1 provides an overview of economic indicators, including different types of indicators, their compilation and publication, and some of the methods used to interpret and analyse them.

Module 2 explores the fundamentals of monetary policy and why we need it, the authorities responsible for delivering it, the policy framework and tools used, and how monetary policy interacts with and is transmitted to the real economy.

Objective

On completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify basic features of economic indicators and different types of indicators
- List and define some of the most closely watched economic indicators
- Recognise some of the methods used to interpret and analyze economic indicators
- Identify key features and objectives of monetary policy
- Define some of the core monetary policy tools and recognize their role in the overall policy framework
- Recognise how monetary policy interacts with the real economy and some of the obstacles it faces
