02 Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute Annual Report 2020 MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN 主席的話 Katherine NG 伍潔鏇 2019 / 2020 was a cha l l eng i ng year to say the least, punctuated by prolonged civil unrest and the COVID-19 pandemic. With our digital transformation framework firmly in place, we are able to react to the uncertain time with an agile arrangement and workforce, ensuring that we continue to innovate and strengthen our value propositions, and that disruptions to our core service offerings are kept to the minimum. 回望 2019/2020 ，社會動盪不安，加 上新型冠狀病毒肆虐，說這是挑戰重 重的一年，實不為過。 猶幸我們已在數碼轉型方面建立穩妥 的框架，縱使局勢難以捉摸，學會亦 可憑著快速應變及員工的靈活安排， 確保持續創新，凸顯我們的價值和角 色，盡量減少對核心服務的干擾。 在截至 2020 年 3 月 31 日的財政年度 裡，學會錄得淨赤字 930 萬港元，是 近五年來首次出現虧損。基於公眾健 康和安全，我們別無選擇，必須取消 和縮減「面對面」的活動，但慶幸仍有 能力迅速應變，改以網上形式提供各 類服務，成功收窄收入下跌的幅度。 今年年報以《燃點抱負、並肩同行》為 主題，正好點出學會精神的精髓。一 路走來，我們總是以會員和業界持份 者的權益為先，透過推動和提供優質 服務，全力支持大家實現抱負。 For the financial year ended 31 March 2020, the HKSI Institute recorded a net deficit of HKD9.3 mi l l i on , t he f i r s t de f i c i t i n f i ve years. The drop in bottom line was cushioned by our ability to make the switch to digital offerings within a relatively short time span, as we had to cancel and cutback on our face- to-face activities due to public health and safety concerns. The theme of this year’s annual r epo r t “ Your Asp i r a t i on , Our Inspiration ” aptly captures the essence of the HKSI Institute spirit. We have our Members and industry stakeholders’ interests at heart as always – driving and delivering quality service offerings to support your aspirations.
