HKSI Institute AR2023

MESSAGE FROMCHAIRMAN & CHIEF EXECUTIVE As Hong Kong enters a new phase of revitalisation post-pandemic, our service offerings place us in a strong position to meet the industry’s increasing demand for knowledge and professional development. Mr Colin Shaftesley Chairman In celebrating HKSI Institute’s 25-year anniversary in 2022, we have our stakeholders – members, regulators, partners, examination candidates, training participants and friends – to thank. It is their steadfast backing and encouragement that have been instrumental to our success. We have achieved a remarkable journey of growth and expansion, fuelled by our diligent commitment to our 2020- 2022 strategic priorities. We explored new frontiers and set new benchmarks over the three-year period, driving us closer to our overarching vision to • Become the preferred provider for examinations and training; • Expand our high-quality and relevant service offerings; • Increase engagement with our members; • Enrich our digital learning solutions and stakeholders’ experience; • Raise brand attraction and enhance communication; and • Advance our people and infrastructure to ensure long- term sustainability as an organisation. Our focused strategy, aligned with our strategic priorities, encompasses reaching out to Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Mainland Chinese firms, engaging with candidates of the Licensing Examination for Securities and Futures Intermediaries (LE) and university students, and targeting specific industry sectors such as Fintech, ESG, asset and wealth management, and regulatory, compliance and ethics. This approach has yielded positive results, as we were able to channel resources to broaden our continuous professional training (CPT) library and examination services, as well as improving our member support and outreach programmes. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, we have successfully achieved results in most areas, although physical activities were limited. Enhancing Collaboration and Standards During the reporting period, we have taken proactive steps by collaborating with professional bodies, learning institutions and corporates to design sector-specific training programmes with a blended learning approach, to ensure the highest level of knowledge acquisition and skills development in the ever-evolving professional landscape. This includes launching training modules to support individuals preparing for the Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP) Bridging Programme Examination, as well as offering essential courses pertaining to Fintech, ESG, family office, hedge fund management and ethics. These initiatives, along with new CPT requirements set by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) that came into effect on 1 January 2022, have resulted in the Institute achieving record-high training income in 2022/2023, HKSI Institute Annual Report 2023 2
