Continuous Talent Development: Case Competition 2023 In response to the increasing trend of companies integrating ESG principles into their business strategies and operations, this year’s Case Competition continued to focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). Launched in September 2022, the competition received unwavering support from our Lead Sponsor, five Cash Sponsors and 14 Project Sponsors. Thanks to the strong support of university representatives, we experienced a 87% increase in application, with 373 applications from over 20 higher education institutions, including two new universities from the Greater Bay Area: Jinan University and The University of Macau. To enhance flexibility, we allowed sponsors to decide their research topics for their coached groups of up to 16 students each. Meanwhile, students were given the option to join as teams of two to three members or as individuals, to complete the research projects within a two-month period. Each Project Sponsor nominated their best performing unit as a semi-finalist, of which the semi-finalists have to submit a 10-minute video presentation, a 15-page PowerPoint, and a two-page report on a three-year DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) programme for a financial services institution or listed company. We extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors for their invaluable contributions in nurturing young talents. Our heartfelt appreciation also to the judges for their dedicated time and effort in selecting the five finalists from the 14 semi-finalists and evaluating the award winners during the 25-minute panel interviews for each finalist.
