HKSI Institute AR2023

DEVELOPMENT We achieved a record-high training income of HKD12.5 million last year, the highest over the past 10 years, with 62% generated from digital learning solutions and corporate training. There was impressive growth during the reporting period in enrolments for public CPT courses and qualification programmes. Number of these public CPT enrolments were approximately 11,600, representing a remarkable 22% increase from last year. These results can be attributed to the new CPT requirements set by the SFC that came into effect on 1 January 2022, from the earlier five CPT hours to 10 CPT hours. Enhancing Training Compliance: Relevant Subject Labels Added Under the new SFC CPT requirements, licensed individuals need to attend at least five CPT hours per calendar year on topics directly relevant to their regulated activities (RA) and two CPT hours on ethics or compliance. To address practitioners’ needs and facilitate learning, we have categorised all our courses, totalling more than 400, with the “Relevant Subject” label. Our corporate members have shared that this labelling is helpful when identifying relevant courses for their staff. During the reporting period, we also implemented specific targeted promotions. This included grouping the courses under relevant themes, such as regulated activities (RA1 and 4), and topics like ethics or compliance. This approach facilitated easy and effective course selection for practitioners. Expanded CPT library: Enhancement in Multiple Dimensions In line with our business plan, we significantly expanded our CPT course offerings in multiple dimensions. This expansion includes a mix of in-person sessions, interactive webinars, and eCourses, effectively enriching our library and providing licensed individuals with a range of relevant and high-quality training options. Ethics Four courses on ethics were offered, including two eCourses titled “The Fundamentals of Business Ethics” and “The Essentials of Ethical Culture and How to Make An Ethical Decision”. These eCourses are available in three versions: English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. Additionally, a highly participative webinar session “Integrity@Work” was organised, facilitated by Mr Simon Culhane, former Chief Executive Officer of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. We also invited the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) to deliver a talk on “Ethics and Compliance – Keys to Professional Success” for financial services practitioners with managerial roles. Hot topics: ESG, Virtual Assets and Fintech We invited high-profile speakers to deliver courses on ESG, Virtual Assets, and Fintech. These include informative sessions such as “Green Fintech: What is happening in Asia”, “Essentials of Virtual Assets Compliance”, and “Technology Risks of Hot Topics in Financial Sector”, among others. Responsible Officers (RO) training series To enhance regulatory compliance, four new courses have been introduced, specifically designed for ROs. Asset and Wealth Management Six new advanced level WAM Pilot Programme-eligible seminars were organised, offering specialised training to experienced market practitioners. Family Office and Hedge Fund Training Programme Two comprehensive eCourse series were launched: Henley’s Family Office Program with 12 modules and Henley’s Executive Hedge Fund Program with 17 modules. LE Practice Questions We expanded our online practice questions to include LE Paper 7 and 8, in addition to LE Paper 1 which was launched last year.
