EMPOWERING PROFESSIONAL ADVANCEMENT BUSINESS REVIEW Licensing Examinations for Securities and Futures Intermediaries (LE) In Hong Kong, there has been an increase in LE uptake, with 1,042 LE sessions (2022: 923) conducted, recording a total of 25,184 enrolments (2022: 23,639) from 11,832 candidates (2022: 11,225). Similar to last corresponding period, LE Papers 1, 7 and 8 recorded the highest enrolment in Hong Kong and represented 72% of total LE enrolments. Distribution of LE Paper Enrolments in Hong Kong: Enrolments LE Paper 1 55.6% LE Paper 7 8.2% LE Paper 8 7.6% Other LE Papers 28.6% Aside from Hong Kong, LE Paper 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 16 and 17 were offered in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Xian, and Wuhan in July, in cooperation with the Securities Association of China (SAC). Due to the volatility caused by the pandemic, enrolments in Mainland China decreased by more than half compared to last year, with 3,582 enrolments. In Taipei, Paper 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 and 12 were offered in collaboration with the Securities and Futures Institute. During the reporting period, there has been a decrease in the number of enrolments for these papers, with 74 enrolments. Meanwhile in Macau, all LE papers were offered in collaboration with the Macau Institute of Financial Services. The financial services industry in Macau has been experiencing growth, leading to a remarkable increase of approximately 55% in LE enrolments compared to the last financial year, with 910 enrolments.
