04 Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute Annual Report 2019 MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN 主席的話 P r o f ess i ona l Dev e l opmen t Offerings Our participants come from the whole spectrum of the financial services industry. To this end, we will be advancing on our analytic capabilities to better understand t h e i r i n t e r e s t s a n d l e a r n i n g requirements, so as to design development programmes and activities that are relevant and will best cater to the needs of our members and practitioners. With the successful partnership w i t h H o n g K o n g T r u s t e e s ’ Association on the newly launched Trust Training Certificate (TTC), we will work with a wider group of professional bodies to build relevant and topical programmes for practitioners. At the same time, we will continue to work closely with the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), Insurance Authority (IA), Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) and the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) to identify potential training needs to help enhance professional standards. Infrastructure We remain committed to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of our services through business reengineering and transformation. Our computer-based examination centre (CBE) was given a facelift in April 2019 to provide candidates w i t h a f r esh and comf o r t ab l e environment, while a revamped and improved examination system was launched in October 2019. We also dedicated more resources t o e n h a n c e o u r i n f o r ma t i o n technology, human resources, da t a ana l y t i c and p r omo t i on and communication capabilities through the enhancement of our Advanced Learning Platform, new recruitments, and appropriate staff development plans. This year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) w i l l see t he l aunch o f an electronic Board nomination and AGM voting platform as an additional means to nominate and vote for our Board Directors. It is important for HKSI Institute to offer our members the convenience o f m o d e r n t e c h n o l o g y . We expect the transition to electronic communication will enable higher engagement and participation from all our members. Our Tribute Las t yea r , we ce l eb r a t ed t he Honorary Fellowship of Professor KC Chan, former Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Government of the Hong Kong Spec i a l Admi n i s t r a t i ve Region. This is in recognition of his inspirational leadership and contributions to the development of the financial services industry and the HKSI Institute. Professor Chan was our Board Director from 2002 to 2005 and it was Professor Chan who kicked off the development of our Scholarship Programme in 2004, which has since benefitted more than 700 university students to date. Five esteemed members were also inducted to Senior Fellowship in recognition of their contributions to the HKSI Institute and their r e l e n t l e s s wo r k i n n u r t u r i n g talent for the industry. They are Mr Christopher Lee, Ms Phyllis Lee, Mr Victor Lee, Professor SF Wong, and Ms Judith Yuen. 專業發展 學會活動參加者來自金融服務業的 不同範疇。因此,我們將致力提升 分析能力,加強了解他們的興趣和 學習需要,設計出更合適、更貼近 會員和業界需求的專業發展課程和 活動。 繼成功聯同香港信託人公會推出信 託培訓證書 (TTC) ,我們將再接再 厲,夥拍其他專業團體為從業員策 劃適切和合時的進修項目。與此同 時,我們亦會持續與證券及期貨事 務監察委員會、保險業監管局、強 制性公積金計劃管理局及香港交易 所緊密合作,檢視業界未來的培訓 需求,提升專業標準。 學會基建 年內,我們不斷透過業務重組及轉 型提升服務效率和成效。 2019 年 4 月,煥然一新的電腦考試中心 (CBE) 重開,為考生提供更舒適明亮的應 試環境;而革新和改進後的考試系 統,亦已於 2019 年 10 月正式啟用。 我們亦增撥資源,透過優化先進學 習平台、增聘人手及制定合適的員 工發展計劃,提升在資訊科技、人 力資源、數據分析以至宣傳推廣方 面的能力。 今年的周年會員大會,將首次使用 「董事提名及周年會員大會投票電子 平台」,作為提名及投票選出學會 董事的另一方式。學會必須善用現 代科技,方便會員。採用電子通訊 後,我們預期將有更多會員投入及 參與學會的活動和事務。 衷心致敬 去年,學會向香港特別行政區政府 前財經事務及庫務局局長陳家強教 授頒授榮譽資深會員頭銜,以表揚 其卓越領導,以及對促進金融服務 業及學會發展的重大貢獻。陳教授 於 2002 至 2005 年擔任學會董事, 並於 2004 年積極推動創立獎學金計 劃,至今已有逾 700 名大學生受惠。 另外,五位備受尊敬的會員-李輝 敏先生、李艷蘭女士、李鴻斌先 生、黃兆勳教授及袁可端女士,亦 因對學會有重大貢獻和積極培育業 界新秀,獲頒授「傑出資深會員」頭 銜。
