Membership Class

To address the needs of different finance practitioners, the HKSI Institute provides a multi-tier membership structure. Please find our six classes of membership below. 

Members of the HKSI Institute agree to oblige by the Membership Rules and Code of Ethics and uphold the professional standard of the investment and securities industry.

 Our six Individual Membership Classes:

Honorary Fellow (FHKSI (Hon))

The HKSI Institute Honorary Fellowship is intended for individuals who have made distinguished contribution to the financial community. Membership is by nomination and approval of the Board.

Senior Fellow (SFHKSI)

The HKSI Institute’s Senior Fellowship is reserved for Fellow Members who have made a significant contribution to the development of the Institute and the industry through their association with the Institute.

Qualified Fellows (FHKSI) may progress to Senior Fellows on the recommendation of Executive Committee and approval by the Board on an annual basis.

Fellow (FHKSI)

The HKSI Institute Fellowship is reserved for Members (MHKSI) who hold recognised academic or professional qualification and/or have made a significant contribution to the development of the Institute and industry through their association with the Institute.

Qualified Ordinary Members (MHKSI) may be invited to apply to progress through 3 routes. All applications require the approval of the Membership Committee.

  • 10 years or above Ordinary Membership; 
  • 15 years or above relevant industry experience; and
  • Holds or has held a senior management position, and is or was responsible for the formulation of policy making decisions
Ordinary Member (MHKSI)

Ordinary Membership is open to individuals who hold recognised academic or professional qualification and at least 3 years’ industry experience.

Experience Requirement:

  • At least 3 years relevant industry experience

Academic / Professional Qualification Requirement:

  • Bachelor degree or above;
  • Barrister or solicitor admitted in Hong Kong;
  • Qualified member of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountant (HKICPA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA);
  • Qualifications recognised by or completed with the HKSI Institute; or
  • Other qualifications accepted by the HKSI Institute, for examples, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Member / Fellow of CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment)
Associate Member (AHKSI)

For individuals who hold recognised academic or industry qualifications, or have less than 3 years industry experience or new entrants to the industry, they might join the Institute as Associate Member.

Experience Requirement:

  • Less than 3 years' relevant industry experience

Academic / Professional Qualification Requirement:

  • Holder of Bachelor degree or above, associate degrees, high diploma;
  • Holder of Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE);
  • Completion of qualifications recognised by the HKSI Institute; or
    • HKSI Practising Certificate (Securities / Derivatives /Credit Rating Agency / Corporate Finance / Asset Management)
    • HKSI Professional Diploma in Financial Markets (PDFM) Module 4 & Module 5
    • HKSI Certificate Programme (Securities / Derivatives)
    • Diploma in HKSI / HKPU Investment Analysis & Portfolio Management
  • Other qualifications accepted by the HKSI Institute
Student Member (UHKSI)

Student Membership is open to post-secondary full-time students to apply.

  • Post-secondary full-time students from local or Mainland or other overseas registered education institutions acceptable to the HKSI Institute are eligible to apply
  • No relevant industry experience is required
