HKSI Career Day 2012

As a leading professional organisation in finance, HKSI is committed to groom local talent for the sustainable growth of the industry. For this year, the HKSI Career Day was held on Saturday, 29 September 2012 (12:00pm - 6:00pm) at HKSI Training Centre. HKSI members and practitioners from various segments were invited to share their industry experience and career advice to new and potential entrants to the finance industry. HKSI corporate members also participated in hosting information sessions and career booths to introduce their business background and job requirements.

This is the 6th year for HKSI to organise the Career Day at HKSI. For this year, over 300 registrations from new entrants or final year students of finance or business were received.

Mr Philippe Espinasse MHKSI
Founder & Chief Executive Officer, P&C Ventures Limited

Mr Espinasse is former Co-Head of Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Asia at Nomura; former Managing Director & Head of ECM, Asia at Macquarie; and former Executive Director & Head of Equity Corporate Finance, Asia at UBS / S.G. Warburg. He worked in Asia for over 12 years, and as a senior investment banker in the US, UK/Europe and Asia, in various capital markets roles for over 19 years. Throughout his career, he has successfully completed more than 140 corporate finance transactions, including many billion-dollar privatisation and private sector IPOs, equity and equity-linked fund raisings, real estate investment trusts, infrastructure funds, principal and pre-IPO investments, M&A and advisory transactions, euro- and domestic bond issues and debt private placements. He is the author of "IPO: A Global Guide" (Hong Kong University Press, April 2011). He has also appeared on Bloomberg Television, on CNBC, on FT.com, on Reuters Television, on BBC World News Television, on Australia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) radio, and on Hong Kong's RTHK radio.

Mr Kenny Lee
Principal, Head of Human Capital, Ascent Partners

Mr Lee is Head of Ascent Partners Human Capital Ltd. He is a management accountant, and is a former managing director of a well-recognised investment bank. He is an industry veteran with 20 years of experience in the financial industry, and well versed of private equity funds and private wealth management.

Mr Daniel Poon MHKSI
Vice President, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited

Mr Poon has been working in the financial industry for more than 24 years. He is currently the Vice President of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx). He joined HKEx in April 2001 as the Head of Derivatives Clearing Operations responsible for managing the two derivatives clearing houses. Since May 2009, Daniel has been appointed the Head of Sales and Marketing Team of the Market Data Department to lead the promotion of HKEx's information services. Before joining HKEx, Daniel was the Deputy Managing Director of TD Waterhouse and Deputy Branch Manager of the Toronto Dominion Bank, Hong Kong. Daniel also worked for major foreign banks, e.g. UBS, Royal Bank of Canada in Hong Kong and TD Bank in Tokyo. Daniel obtained his Master's Degree in Money, Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham and Master's Degree in Corporate Governance and Directorship from the Hong Kong Baptist University.

Ms Emily Ho
Senior Manager of Licensing, SFC

Ms Ho is Senior Manager of Licensing Department of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), where she joined in 2005. Prior to joining the SFC, she worked in several financial institutions and brokerage houses. Ms Ho holds a Masters of Laws degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University.

Mr Gregory Sy, Senior VP, Quam Private Wealth 
Mr Henry Ling, VP, Quam Private Wealth

Mr Gregory Sy is Senior VP of Quam Financial Management Ltd. He has rich experience in the finance sector. He is the founder of the facebook page "我要做股神", and is also the author of the book "負翁也能變富翁".

Mr Henry Ling is an experienced finance practitioner. Before joining Quam, he worked in Karl Thomson Group, IBC Group and Citi Inc (Canada) in the CIB division. He provides investment portfolio management and risk management services to his clients.

Mr Louis Mak MHKSI
Chief Executive Officer of I-Access Group

Mr Mak is Chief Executive Officer of I-Access Group, the parent company of I-Access Investors, which is the first local discount broker in Hong Kong. I-Access has over 24,000 clients and become one of the largest derivatives brokers in Hong Kong, sharing over 2% of market turnover. Mr Mak holds a BA in Business Studies from the University of Cambridge, a law degree from the Manchester Metropolitan University, and LLM from the University of Hong Kong. He is a committee member of the Membership Committee and e-Committee of HKSI.
