International and Local Recognition
Recognition by the International Associations
Association of Certified International Investment Analysts (ACIIA)
The ACIIA is an international association made up of two of the world's leading Federations and 35 National/Regional Societies. More nations are expected to ally with the ACIIA in the future.
LOMA has recognised the CIIA® designation for Professional Achievement Credits (PACs) in its Fellow, Financial Services Institute (FFSI) Program.
Recognition of the CIIA Designation in the UK
In July 2007, the Financial Skills Partnership (FSP) in the United Kingdom recognised the CIIA designation as a Key 2 qualification. The ACIIA now has the awarding body status, and the CIIA qualification has been included on the appropriate examinations list for seven relevant activities that are regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the UK (www.fsa.gov.uk).
Candidates with the CIIA designation will need to take a UK specific examination such as those offered by the Securities and Investments Institute and the United Kingdom Society of Investment Professionals (UKSIP) in order to meet the full examination requirements for the aforementioned activities. Details of these examinations can be found on the FSP website.
For further details regarding the CIIA® recognition by FSSC, please read this document.
Recognition by the Local Regulatory Body
The CIIA is recognised by the Hong Kong regulator, Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), as one of the internationally recognised professional qualifications in finance which can compensate the "recognised industry qualifications" of the SFC's competence requirements for an individual applying to be a responsible officer and/or a representative.
