HKSI Institute Scholarship

The Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute) is firmly committed to groom young talents for tomorrow’s real business challenges. The HKSI Institute Scholarship programme (HKSI Institute Scholarship) provides awardees with just the right tools to further their career aspirations.

The HKSI Institute Scholarship was launched in 2004 and is open to business and finance students in their penultimate or final year of university with outstanding academic performance. Since its launch, over 556 scholars benefited from the networking and training opportunities offered.

This year, 20 students from the following participating universities receive the scholarship:

  • Hong Kong Baptist University, The
  • Hong Kong Polytechnic University
  • Hong Kong Shue Yan University
  • The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology
  • Lingnan University
  • Open University of Hong Kong, The
  • The University of Hong Kong

Each awardee received a 1-year complimentary HKSI Institute Membership, which enable them to expand their network to achieved members of our professional community. Furthermore, each Senior awardee will enjoy HKSI Institute Coupon worth HK$4,000  and each Junior Awardee coupon worth HK$2,000 , to enrol in the events and courses organised by the Institute, equipping them with insightful technical know-how and market knowledge.

To compete for the “HKSI Institute Scholars” title, all awardees submitted a 1,000-word essay on “What should Hong Kong do now to strengthen our status as a leading offshore RMB center?”.

Six finalists were then selected for interview with a judging panel comprised of senior market practitioners from the HKSI Institute Membership Committee, to further compete for cash prizes and industry placement opportunities.

Participation in high-level business delegation

In addition to the above privileges and opportunities, awardees for the current year were invited to join an essay competition, together with mentees from the HKSI Institute’s Mentoring Programme, to compete for 2 coveted spots to join the HKSI Institute Study Mission to Tokyo.  This invaluable opportunity was made possible by I-Access Group, who has generously sponsored young talents to join the Institute’s annual signature overseas study mission for three consecutive years.

Submitted scripts were personally reviewed by I-Access Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Louis Mak, and the winners are:

  • Mr Mak Chun Man, Edwin (Hong Kong Shue Yan University)
  • Ms Luo Min, Sky, Management Trainee of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd

The field trip opportunity provided them the precious experience of participating in a high-level business delegation and meeting Japan’s key regulators, government officials and top business leaders. The trip, held in April 2015, was an eye-opener for the two awardees and contributed much to their personal as well as professional development.
