Under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), effective from 1 January 2004, Mainland professionals (defined as PRC nationals possessing valid securities or futures practising qualifications in Mainland China) are recognized by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) as holding relevant industry qualifications to practise in Hong Kong.
As part of this arrangement, the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) has assigned the Securities Association of China (SAC) and the China Futures Association (CFA) to be the co-organizers of Paper 1 of the Licensing Examination for Securities and Futures Intermediaries (LE) in the Mainland. Since 2005, the HKSI has held the LE Paper 1 in the Mainland nine times. The tenth examination, being administered by the SAC, will be held in Shanghai and Shenzhen at 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., 15 October 2011 (Sat).
