Veteran banker Dr The Honorable
Lee Quo-Wei, GBM, JP, inducted as HKSI Honorary Fellow
for 2006
The Hong Kong Securities Institute (HKSI) has great
pleasure in announcing Dr The Honorable Lee Quo-Wei
as, GBM, JP, the Honorary Fellow for 2006. Mr Edward
Kwan, Chairman of the HKSI, formally inducted Dr Lee
as the HKSI Honorary Fellow during the ceremony held
in the Institute's Autumn Dinner on 9 October 2006.
Dr Lee was the Honorary Chairman of Hang Seng Bank
before his retirement.
"Dr Lee is not only an outstanding banker, his
dedication towards the development of local securities
and finance industry and his enthusiasm in nurturing
local talents are well recognised. Throughout the
years, Dr Lee had assumed leadership roles in different
functional areas of the financial industry, including
Executive Chairman of Hang Seng Bank, member of the
Executive and Legislative Councils and Chairman of
The Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Dr Lee was also awarded
the Grand Bauhinia Medal by the government in 1997.
It is our honor pleasure to have Dr Lee as our HKSI
Honorary Fellow for 2006," Mr Kwan said.
The HKSI Honorary Fellowship is intended for individuals
who have made significant contribution to the financial
community. The nomination and approval of Honorary
Fellow rests with the HKSI Board and this distinguished
membership may be awarded to existing members or non-members.
The HKSI's tiered membership structure comprises
of four categories, including student members, affiliate
and ordinary members, with the HKSI Honorary Fellows/
Fellows at the apex.
Ordinary members can apply for progression to HKSI
Fellows if they meet the requirements. The first batch
of HKSI Fellows was inducted in 2003. This year, four
Ordinary Members progressed to be HKSI Fellows, they
are Ms Julia Charlton, Mr Dannis Lee, Mr Anthony Muh
and Mr Michael Sze, who were also formally inducted
during the occasion.
Mr Gary Cheung, HKSI Chief Executive, said in the
dinner, "Since its inception, the Institute has
gained tremendous support from the industry and the
members. We hope that members and practitioners in
the industry will join hands leading our industry
to new heights of achievement."
