
HKSI Signs Memorandum of Understanding with The Federation of Hunan Joint-Stock Companies and The Securities Association of Hunan Province
The Hong Kong Securities Institute (HKSI) signed a Memorandum
of Understanding (MOU) with The Federation of Hunan
Joint-Stock Companies (湖南省股份公司聯合會, FHJC) and The Securities
Association of Hunan Province (湖南省證券業協會, SAH) during
a signing ceremony at the Hunan-Hong Kong Financial
Services Cooperation Forum (『湖南─香港金融交流合作洽談會』) held in
Changsha yesterday. The signing ceremony was one of
the key programmes of the Hong Kong financial services
sector's three-day visit to Hunan. The delegation, with
over 100 industry leaders, was led by the Secretary
for Financial Services and the Treasury Mr Frederick
Ma.
The agreement outlined the main areas for further
cooperation between Hong Kong and Hunan, which included
the establishment of the mechanism to facilitate information
exchange, the arrangement of an appropriate platform
for practitioners from two sides to meet and share
experiences and the organisation of study missions
and training programmes to encourage sharing of best
practices.
Mr Ma was glad to see the signing of framework agreements
among various institutions from Hong Kong and Hunan
during the Forum. He said that would provide a great
start for cooperation between Hunan and Hong Kong
within the realm of financial services. There were
ample of win-win opportunities for both sides to explore.
He hoped that both Hunan and Hong Kong businesses
can make the best use of the network built up during
the visit, and actively participate in developing
business opportunities and promoting prosperity of
economic development between the two places.
Mr Edward Kwan, HKSI Chairman, said that: “The agreement
provides a forward-looking direction leading to a
higher level of cooperation between organisations
from Hong Kong and Hunan.”
Ms Ding Xiaoping, Vice-chairman and Secretary General
of the SAH, added that the agreement was one of the
milestones indicating the achievement made within
the Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Co-operation Framework.
Mr Gary Cheung, HKSI Chief Executive also commented
that the MOU framework would not only enhance the
exchange of information and talents, it would also
help to foster a closer working relationship between
securities practitioners from both sides.
