HKSI Business Ethics Forum 2007

"Business ethics forms the foundation of our profession and is a key determinant of corporate success," Dr Au King-lun, Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities Institute told business leaders at the HKSI Business Ethics Forum.

Dr Au also used the forum, held annually exclusively for HKSI members, to unveil the HKSI 10th Anniversary Logo to the 200 business figures attending the forum, which took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on June 7.

Since its launch last year, the forum has received tremendous support from members and the industry. This year, senior representatives from the private and public sectors shared their experiences on business ethics, and provided advice on how they can help the message permeate down through their organization.

Among the speakers were: Ms Teresa Chan of Lehman Brothers; Mr David Cope of Hong Kong Police Force; Mr Nicholas Kee of Macquarie Securities Asia; Mrs Rita Lily Liaw of Independent Commission Against Corruption; Mr Peter Monaci of Citi Asia Pacific; Mr Alexander Schrantz of Goldman Sachs; and Mr Colin Trantor of Deutsche Bank. Meanwhile, HKSI Board Director Miss Angelina Kwan moderated the panel discussion.

Mr Gary Cheung, HKSI Chief Executive, said that HKSI members had complimentary access to this educational forum. "The Institute is keen to set standards of professional excellence and integrity for members and market participants, and more importantly, to provide them with the means to attain this objective," Mr Cheung said.

On unveiling the HKSI 10th Anniversary logo, Dr Au said that through the support of members and practitioners, the Institute has been able to grow remarkably since its inception ten years ago.

"The logo best illustrates our determination to meet future challenges - to go hand-in-hand with market professionals with creative minds and to always 'think-out-of-the-box'," Dr Au said.

Members of the audience were impressed by the high caliber of speakers at the forum who discussed ethics within the corporate framework, and related topics.
