Examination Results Statistics for LE Papers 1, 2 and 6 in July 2005

LE Paper 1 in Jul 2005

The pass rate of Paper 1 held on 30 Jul 2005 was 58%. Figures 1 and 2 show the distribution by scores of the exam results and the overall topical correctness¹ achieved in the examination.

As shown in Table 1, when compared with the correctness rates of the previous month, candidates' performance in Topic 9 (Market Misconduct, Improper Trading Practices and Compliance) has improved considerably, but the correctness rate of Topic 5 (Business Conduct and Client Relations) shows a marked decline.

Table 2 shows the subject areas in which candidates performed unsatisfactorily in the Jul 2005 exam and the topics/sections in the Study Manual which cover these subject areas.

Candidates are particularly advised to carefully review subject area 2 "Features of different forms of share capital" above and subject area 4 "Participants of the exchanges and clearing houses" above in which candidates also performed unsatisfactorily in the June 2005 exam.

LE Paper 2 in Jul 2005

The pass rate of LE Paper 2 held on 30 Jul 2005 was 41%. Figures 3 and 4 show the distribution by scores of the exam results and the overall topical correctness achieved in the examination.

As shown in Table 3, when compared with the correctness rates of the previous month, candidates' performance in both Topics 6 (Options and OTC Derivatives) and 7 (Market Misconduct and Offences) saw a marked decline. The correctness rates of the other 5 topics remain consistent.

Table 4 shows the subject areas in which candidates performed unsatisfactorily in the Jul 2005 exam and the topics/sections in the Study Manual which cover these subject areas.

LE Paper 6 in Jul 2005

The pass rate of LE Paper 6 held on 17 Jul 2005 was 62%, which is the highest to date. Figures 5 and 6 show the distribution by scores of the exam results and the overall topical correctness achieved in the examination.
