What is the "e-booking" system? |
| |
e-booking (online registration and enrolment) is a
convenient way to allow users to submit their registration /
enrolment forms and settle payment via the Internet. If
candidates' PCs fulfill certain requirements, they will be
able to make use of this platform.
** Users please note that this e-booking system IS NOT
a seat reservation system. Online registrations / enrolments
received by the system WITHOUT successful online
payment WILL NOT be processed. ** |

What are the PC requirements for using this e-booking
system? |

Suggested computer platform: Windows XP / Windows 2000
based PC equipped with a web browser such as Microsoft
Internet Explorer (version 6.0 or above and java enabled).
It should be connected to the Internet via broadband.
Recommended screen resolution is 1024 x 768 or above.
** During the online registration / enrolment process, your
PC will be connected with the system for transmitting data,
so using a broadband connection can reduce the chance of
sudden disconnection.** |

[IMPORTANT] What you should
know if you decide to use this e-booking system. |

You are encouraged to use this e-booking system to
register / enrol for your exam(s) several days before the
corresponding registration / enrolment deadline, since there
is possibility that you may not be able to register / enrol
successfully or that you may experience an unexpected delay.
(Please note that applications received by the HKSI after
the registration / enrolment deadline for the relevant exam
will not be processed.)
If your credit card was not accepted by the system, please
contact your credit card issuing bank for further
information. The HKSI DOES NOT know the status of
your credit card.
If you are unable to use this e-booking system for whatever
reason, you may still submit your completed registration /
enrolment form together with the appropriate registration /
examination fee(s) to the HKSI in person or by mail on or
before the registration / enrolment deadline.
Applications received by the HKSI after the registration /
enrolment deadline for the relevant exam will not be
processed. |

What is the process flow and procedures for this
e-booking system? |

The process can be divided into 2 stages:
1. Exam Registration / Enrolment (Input of personal
particulars); AND
2. Online Payment / Settlement (Input of credit card
information)
Users please note that the completion of the "Exam
registration / enrolment section" DOES NOT mean that your
registration / enrolment is completed and has been accepted.
Until your credit card payment has been accepted by the
system and you have received an e-confirmation message (with
a 6-digit reference number), your registration / enrolment
has not been successfully completed.
The following 5 steps will need to be completed:
Step 1: Selection of examination paper(s) and
session(s)
Step 2: Input of Personal Particulars
**Please input your personal particulars at once. For
security reasons, your registration / enrolment form will be
cancelled if this page is idle for over 10 minutes without
the "submit" button being clicked.**
Step 3: Confirmation of Personal Particulars
Step 4: Input credit card information for online
payment
**You must use an international VISA or MasterCard to settle
payment of your registration / enrolment fee(s).**
Step 5: Acknowledgement of Submission
**If your registration / enrolment is successful and is
accepted by the system, an e-confirmation message (with a
6-digit reference number) will be displayed for your
reference. If you input a valid email account in your
registration / enrolment form, you will also receive an
email confirmation. Please write down your 6-digit reference
number for future reference.**

all credit cards be used in the payment gateway of this
system? |

No. You must use an international VISA or MasterCard to
settle payment of your registration / enrolment fee(s). |

The "Registration / Enrolment Application Rejected"
message was shown even though the credit card information
was input correctly. |
| |
Please confirm whether your credit card is an
internationally accepted VISA or MasterCard. This system
currently only accepts VISA or MasterCard. In addition,
due to different credit card issuing banks' policies on
online transactions or systems updates, you may still
get the "Registration / Enrolment Application Rejected"
message even though you have input your credit card
information correctly. Reasons may include:
- your credit card is not valid for authorization over
the Internet
- your credit card cannot be authorised at certain times
of the day
To rectify this situation, you may
- use a different credit card (so long as it is a VISA
or MasterCard)
- check with your card issuing bank to make sure that
your credit card is valid and can be used for purchases
over the Internet
Visa is now promoting a new service called "Verified
by Visa" to enhance the security of using credit
cards online. Credit cards issued by a number of banks
including Bank of China, DBS Bank, Hang Seng Bank and
HSBC, now require cardholders to register for this
service first before their cards can be used in the
payment gateway of this system. For details, please

** Important Note: The HKSI does not know the status
of your credit card. Please contact your credit card

What can you do if the connection fails or your browser
is closed during the registration / enrolment process?
|

Please check your email to see whether you have received
an e-confirmation which states that "Your application has
been submitted successfully" together with a 6-digit
reference number. If not, your corresponding registration /
enrolment should not be treated as a successful one and you
should try again. |

What can you do if an unknown error message is shown or
system hanging occurs during the registration / enrolment
process? |

Due to different settings of PCs, if you encounter an
unknown system error message after trying to register /
enrol several times, please try to use another computer to
access this e-booking system.
Always use a PC with broadband connection to the Internet. |

What can you do if the system response is slow? |

Internet or if the server is too busy, please try again
later. |

How can you confirm whether your online registration /
enrolment and payment has been accepted by the system?

If your registration / enrolment is successful and
