The rapid development of the capital markets over the last few years has generated a large number of deals. All manner of assets, from real estate to football clubs, have been traded by investors hoping to profit from income and/or capital appreciation from these assets. Singapore, as a financial hub for South-East Asia, has also seen its fair share of deals. However, not all deals end happily. This is particularly so when volatile capital markets rapidly change the fair market value of an asset and one side suddenly finds itself enjoying a windfall profit at the expense of the other. It is at this point that deals usually find themselves on the litigators table.

Presenting by two prominent in-town speakers, they will discuss a number of such deals that have been litigated in the Singapore. Most of these cases raise interesting questions of both finance and law and the Singapore courts have found themselves having to make decisions in relatively un-chartered waters. These includes:
