(August 2006) China's Pension Reforms
According to China expert Mr Stuart Leckie, China takes only 27 years to become an aged nation which many developed countries took almost a century. As such, China is taking various measures to reform its pension system before the aging problem becomes unmanageable. Mr Leckie, Chairman of Stirling Finance Ltd, explained the reforms undertaken, including the NSSF Mandates and the China Pension Index, and the opportunities available to fund managers and insurance companies.

(July 2006) Free CPT - The New Look of Hang Seng Index
A consultation paper was recently published by the Hang Seng Index Services Ltd (HSI Services Ltd) on the "The Compilation Methodology for the Hang Seng Index in Connection with the Inclusion of H-share Companies". To update market practitioners with the proposed methodology and it implication to the industry, the Institute had invited Mr Vincent Kwan, Director and General Manager of HSI Services Ltd to give an in-depth seminar on 23 May 2006. Mr Kwan has discussed the evolution of the Hang Seng Index and explained the rationale behind the new methodology.

(May 2006) Business Ethics Forum Now Available Online
To enhance the membership benefits and raise the professional standards in our industry, the institute had organised a forum entitled "Business Ethics" at the HKCEC on 7 Apr 2006 exclusively for our members. We had invited Ms Rita Lily Liaw, Programme Coordinator (Business Sector) Community Relations Department of Independent Commission Against Corruption, Dr Stephan Rothlin, Chairman of Association for International Business Ethics, Mr Fritz H Rau of DVFA Germany and Mr Peter Lau, Chairman and Chief Executive of Giordano International Limited to speak at the Forum. They had shared their experience and knowledge on corporate responsibilities, business ethics and as well as business integrity with us.

(April 2006) New e-seminar "Stock Options Market Enhancements Measures & Challenges Ahead" posted
Presented by Mr Calvin Tai, Senior Vice President of Derivatives Market of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited on 15 February 2006, the seminar reviewed the background of Hong Kong Stock Options Market and what enhancements were made in 2005. Mr Tai also explained the importance of uplifting the position limits and outlined the challenges and new initiatives of this fast growing stock options market.
