Other Professional Associations
As a leading professional body participating
in a global market place, the Institute
understands the importance of developing
business ties with other global professional
associations.
Since its inception,
the Institute has developed strong
relationships with a number of foreign
securities associations including;
Asian
Securities Analysts Federation
The Asian Securities Analysts Federation (ASAF)
was established to promote the interests of
the investment community of Asia and Oceania
and to encourage and assist the development of
the profession of securities analysts through
the interchange of ideas and co-ordination of
policy among member societies.
The HKSI is an active member of ASAF and in
December 2001 hosted the regional ASAF
conference. The Institute regularly receives
updates on regional trends in the securities
analysts industry through the ASAF Newsletter
which can be accessed on
www.asaf.org.au
ACIIAâ
Through our association with ASAF, the
Institute has become a member of the
Association of Certified International
Investment Analysts (ACIIA®).
This is the professional association
responsible for the development of the CIIA®
examinations, an internationally recognised
advanced professional qualification for
individuals working in the finance and
investment industry. For more details on

Securities Association
of China
The Securities Association of China (SAC) is a
professional body for securities market
professionals in Mainland China. The SAC,
instructed and supervised by the
China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC),
is responsible for the organisation and the
administration of the
securities industry
qualifications examinations for
Mainland China. In January 2004 the HKSI was
assigned by the SAC as the sole agent for the
enrolment of Hong Kong professionals for the
Mainland China regulatory examination held in
Shenzhen in March 2004. The HKSI is involved
in on-going discussions with the SAC regarding
both training and examination opportunities in
the future.
Securities & Investment Institute
(Formerly known as Securities Institute of
United Kingdom)
The Securities
& Investment
Institute (SII)
recognises HKSI Ordinary Membership as a
relevant "overseas" qualification for
admission as a member of
SII.
International Recognition of HKSI Examinations
Both the
Licensing Examination for Securities and Futures Intermediaries (LE)
and the
HKSI Diploma Programme Examination (DPE)
have been recognised by international
regulatory bodies and professional
associations.
SII - IAQ
Programme
LE Paper 1 is
recognised as a suitable replacement of the
SII IAQ regulatory unit. The IAQ is awarded
on the completion of 3 IAQ units. HKSI
individual members or market practitioners
who have successfully completed the LE Paper
1 are required to take only 2 IAQ units to
attain the certification.
Investment Dealers Association of Canada (IDA)
Applicants wishing to practise in the
securities industry in Canada who provide
proof of passing LE Papers 1, 7 and 8 or who
were licensed in Hong Kong through completion
of the DPE need only pass the New Entrants
Course of the
Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) to be
exempted from writing the Canadian Securities
Course (CSC) and the Conduct and Practices
Handbook Examination (CPH).
Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIAâ)
HKSI members who are also graduates of the
DPE are able to
attain a globally recognised qualification,
that of CIIA awarded by the
Association of Certified International
Investment Analysts (ACIIA®).
Since the DPE has been accredited by the ACIIA®,
its graduates may, so long as they are members
of the HKSI, proceed directly to the CIIA®
Final Examination which is offered by the
HKSI in Hong Kong, and are exempted from
taking the CIIA® Foundation
Examination and National Examination.
Curtin University of Technology, Australia
The DPE has been accredited by Curtin
University of Technology, Australia. DPE
graduates are eligible for admission to
Curtin's
Master of Finance
programme
with three
subjects, namely Finance (Statement Analysis),
Finance (Instruments and Markets) and Finance
(Portfolio Management), exempted.
This programme is currently offered in Hong
Kong through Curtin's collaboration with the
Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK).
LOMA (Life Office Management Association, Inc.)
LOMA is an international association through
which more than 1,250 insurance and financial
services companies from over 70 countries
engage in research and educational activities
to improve company operations. LOMA has
recognised LE Papers 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 and
12 and the DPE for Professional Achievement
Credits (PACs) in its Fellow, Financial
Services Institute (FFSI) Program.
Napier University, Scotland
The DPE has been recognised
by Napier University, Scotland. DPE Registered Students who have passed
DPE Papers 1 and 3 are eligible for entry to Level
4 of Napier's BA (Hons) Financial Services programme. This programme is
currently offered in Hong Kong through Napier's collaboration with the Hong Kong
University School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE).
